Scrapola

Over the next few weeks, I will be reposting old photomanips in my SCRAPS folder.
Why? Well I had taken them down originally because I didn't get permission from the photographer's photos I had used to create them. I took them down on my own free will, nobody forced me, nobody told me to cease and desist. I just simply woke up one day and found that I was a temple to hypocrisy. How could I have preached about Intellectual Property Rights when I myself was breaking all the rules? Because when I had created them I didn't realize or feel morally obligated about the use of celebrity photos in my work. I thought,
"Hey, Fair Use, Public Domain... the illustrator's on the corners re-illustrate photos's what's the difference?" The difference is, that they are using physical materials to re-illustrate a photo, I am using digital tools and working from the original photograph. I just suddenly didn't feel right, about it. Especially when I went to try and find the original photos of the pieces I had done. I just felt awful and guilty, so I took them down. But the thing is some of them are my best pieces, and they are infact not reproductions of the original works, but fabrications and new illustrations of original works

arodies almost. However I still hold no rights to them since I have not obtained permissions to use their photo in my work. So I have decided they are sketches, and scraps of things to come. I will be reposting a few images in scraps for viewing. Please know that all of these images are based off of images found on the internet, and taken from websites to be used in the manipulation. I hold no rights to them, except for the finished illustrations--and even then used them for educational study's of skin, light and form. They are some of my better works, but they are not truly mine, at least I do not feel that they are, because I did not take the photo myself or purchase the images.
Art Theft is Wrong
Think before you just take an image and use it without permissions or rights. Remember you are stealing, and theft of any level is wrong. Taking art off the internet and using it for your own artwork without permissions from the original artist or under terms of use of the website you downloaded it from IS STEALING. Art Theft is wrong. It is illegal. And nobody should profit from it. If you didn't get permission, if you didn't pay for it, and you just took it, you stole it. Ask for permissions or pay for the images you use in your photomanipulation, it is only right.
I know several deviants who have been victims of Art Theft, and they nor I will stand for it. You should too.
